A TAGGED 5m great white shark has been detected lurking off Perth's beaches early this morning.

The Department of Fisheries said the tagged great white had been detected in Ocean Reef, Scarborough and Floreat overnight.

“The latest detection was around 5.30am off Floreat Beach and follows a detection at 4.20am today by a shark monitoring network acoustic receiver off Scarborough Beach,” Fisheries said.

The same 5m shark was also detected at Ocean Reef just before 11pm last night.

The shark was tagged as part of the State Government-funded program to monitor the occurrence of great white sharks off Perth beaches.

Water Police have been advised of the shark's movements, while Cottesloe and North Cottesloe beaches were closed for several hours....
