How to Convert a CHM to an HTML in Ubuntu
By Gareth Downes-Powell, eHow Contributor

How to Change a CHM to a PDF
Instructions
1

Connect to the remote Ubuntu server using SSH, or open a terminal window if you are at the computer itself.
2

Type "sudo apt-get install libchm-bin" at the terminal prompt to install the libCHM converter. Type in your password when requested by the sudo command, which is used to install libCHM with root privileges.
3

Change to the directory containing the CHM file using the cd command. To change to a directory named "help," type "cd help" at the terminal prompt.
4

Type "extract_chmLib file.chm output-directory" at the terminal prompt, where "file.chm" is the name of the .chm file you are converting, and "output-directory" is the directory to store the extracted HTML files. For example:

extract_chmLib example.chm /home/html

The conversion process is quick and produces a number of HTML files in the chosen directory that can be viewed in a Web browser.
Tips & Warnings

You can convert the HTML files extracted from a .chm file to a PDF using the htmldoc package, available from the Ubuntu repository and installed using the "apt-get" command.
